The British Table Tennis Association for People with Disabilities are presenting
another Grand Prix tournament in the North East of England at the Ormesby Table Tennis Club on Cargo Fleet Lane, Middlesbrough on Saturday, 11th July 2015.
The competition named as the “Ormesby Para Open Championship” has attracted a strong field with several members of the British Paralympic squad participating.
The championship includes events for athletes who play using a wheelchair and some of the standing classes. One of the best known players, David Wetherill, a member of the current World Class Performance squad will feature in Class 6. Aarron Mckibbin,
another squad member is in Class 8, while the third member of the British squad, Ashley Facey, is the leading player in Class 9.
In addition to participants from all parts of Britain, there is a large local entry from the Disability group at the Ormesby Club who are particularly strong in the wheelchair
Play starts at 9.00 am on Saturday with the finals scheduled for late
afternoon. Spectators and supporters are welcome.
