GB Team ready for Slovenia Open

After two training sessions today in Lasko the GB team is ready for the challenge of the Slovenia Open, which starts tomorrow with the group stages of the singles competition.

With more than 300 athletes taking part, including many of the world’s top players, the Slovenia Open is one of the strongest events of the year and one of the most important in the build-up to the World Championships in September.

Play gets underway at 09.00 tomorrow with Dave Wetherill (class 6) the first in action for GB at 09.30 against the German Tim Laue. Will Bayley begins the defence of his class 7 title with matches against Arnaud Duquesne of Belgium at 10.00 and Michal Deigsler of Poland at 13.30, while world number one and European champion Rob Davies starts his bid for gold in the men’s class 1 event against the Italian Federico Falco at 11.00.
