GB Staff: Tim Pitt - Sports Psychologist

Background: Tim is part of the Performance Psychology team at the English Institute of Sport (EIS), who works with the GB Para Table Tennis team. He is the Lead Psychologist for the programme, working directly with the players, support staff, and coaching team. Tim’s role is to assist the players in their mental preparation for competition, working with them to find skills and solutions that will help them perform consistently and effectively in pressurised settings. He will also work with the coaching team to build pressure in the training environment to provide further opportunities to practice these skills. Tim originally studied Psychology at Loughborough University before going on to complete a masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Northumbria University. Alongside his work with the GB Para Table Tennis team, Tim is currently working towards a PhD in Sport Psychology at the EIS.
